S500 Seriol
S500 represents a new family of intelligent, expansible outstations for use in telemetry control and monitoring applications and is a member of the Seriol range
of intelligent Remote Terminal Units (RTU).
These data acquisition/controllers are programmable in Sercal or SerGraf-1131 for simple or complex control, monitoring, telemetry and data logging applications.
Designed to meet the demanding requirements of remote locations our remote terminal units are used by utility and service companies for monitoring unmanned
locations. The basic assembly is designed for mounting in third party control and electrical panels. It is packaged in an IP30 rated enclosure which may be fitted into an industrial
IP55 or IP66 cabinet for outdoor service.
S500 Seriol Telemetry Controllers and Power Supplies
From concept the S500 has been designed to meet
the requirements of unmanned remote telecontrol. The functionality is enhanced with comprehensive diagnostic facilities accessible both remotely and locally. Environmentally the S500
meets demanding EMC standards experienced in such locations and will operate in ambient temperatures of -10°C to +80°C.
The basic assembly is designed for mounting in third party control and electrical panels. It is packaged in an IP30 rated enclosure which may be fitted into an industrial IP55 or IP66
cabinet for outdoor service.
Eight I/O slots are provided, 6 of which are available when the on-board power is fitted. All eight become available when the external power supply option is used. Any permutation of
I/O and communication modules is permitted.
CMOS technology is employed to reduce power consumption. Primary power is from mains 230/110 volts ac (jumper configurable) 45-65Hz. Secondary power is provided by a 12 volt sealed
lead acid battery.
The S500 will monitor charge/discharge current, battery voltage, mains and internal logic supplies. A unique feature of the S500 is to provide an integral battery self test facility
enabling early detection of the secondary power battery reaching the end of its serviceable life.
An externally mounted power supply unit option offers higher power capability for both S500 power and battery recharge whilst retaining the features of the internal
power supply version. The internal plant interface supply may be switched off to facilitate input/output testing and to save power. S500 can power down when not scanning plant or communicating
in order to conserve power. In power down mode current useage is less than 3mA. S500 will wake on:- Alarm from internal real-time clock, Man machine interface activation, Incoming call
on communications ports, Mains power reconnect or Keypad operation.
S500 Seriol Telemetry Communications Interfaces
A range of communication modules are available supported
by tried and tested proprietary communications protocols offered by CSE-Seprol. In addition, third party protocols are also supported or can be integrated in to the S500 firmware.
The base assembly may be fitted with up to 2 communications modules.

S500 Seriol Plant Input/Output Interfaces
A comprehensive range of plant interface modules are available
to provide input and output functions.
The range includes
- Digital inputs (status and counting)
- Event inputs with 1mS resolution
- Digital outputs (Volt free contact and solid state)
- Analogue inputs 14 bit (voltage and current)
- Analogue outputs 12 bit (Voltage and current)
- Low power digital input (Shaft encoder/tipping bucket/wake on event)
S500 Seriol Secondary Enclosures
The S500 is packaged in a IP30 rated housing and is suitable for mounting into existing or new secondary enclosures. CSE-Seprol are able to provide a range of standard secondary enclosure of ratings from IP55 to IP67. Sizes vary from 300mm(w)x300mm(h)x200mm(d) to 600mm(w)x600mm(h)x350mm(d) dependent on configuration and additional equipment housed.
